Was that the Gionee Elife S7 that was just certified in China by TENAA?

The Gionee Elife S7 has apparently been certified in China by TENAA. That means we get to show you the usual low-resolution shots taken by the agency. You would think that after all of these years, the Chinese government could afford a better camera. TENAA didn't identify the name of the phone by name, only the SN9600 model number; considering that Gionee has just sent out invitations for a March 2nd MWC event at which the Elife S7 will be unveiled, it's a pretty good bet that it is the phone that received the certification.

The original rumors had the Gionee Elife S7 coming to market with a record thin 4.6mm design. That would have been even thinner that the Coolpad Ivvi K1 Mini, which now is the thinnest smartphone at 4.7mm.  And some leaked pictures of the device that we showed you the other day certainly revealed an extremely thin design. Most likely, it won't be until the unveiling that we will know for sure if the device is a record-breaker.

We will be in Barcelona for MWC 2015, and Gionee's event will begin March 2nd at 2pm which is equivalent to 8am ET in the U.S. Check in with us and we just might have a new world record to report to you. Source
