OnePlus to unveil OxygenOS on February 12th
Now we know why OnePlus used the periodic table on a teaser yesterday. No, it had absolutely nothing to do with a new metallic back for the OnePlus One. Instead, the company is going to unveil is own ROM on February 12th. Like it did when the OnePlus One was designed, the company wants its new operating system, dubbed OxygenOS, to provide a "bold, powerful, straight-forward experience."
OnePlus promises that OxygenOS will be "open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features." Last month, the company announced that it would introduce its own ROM and as OnePlus is wont to do, it held a contest for the best name. All of this came after Cyanogen signed an exclusive deal in India to drive a line of cheap Micromax handsets. As a result, the Cyanogen flavored OnePlus One has run into legal issues in the country.
The OxygenOS will be an optional installation, and the lucky person who coined the Oxygen name could end up on a jet headed to Shenzhen, China returning home with a 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One. Meanwhile, we will all be in limbo until February 12th, when the wraps will be removed from what is supposed to be close to a stock Android experience. Source
